After 29 Years, Tempe Couple Sell Cookies From Home

AZ Central.com:

After 29 years in business, Barry and Susan Brooks have sold their Tempe-based business Cookies From Home to a Scottsdale man who plans to open more retail outlets and go into franchising.

Corey Meiteen, a commercial lender and venture capitalist, bought the company for an undisclosed sum of cash.

He will keep the current line of cookies and add new flavors, as well as offer brownies, pretzels, popcorn and truffles. A new product for Valentine’s Day will be cookies that look like roses.

“I have no plans to change any of the existing recipes, existing flavors or production techniques,” he said.

Meiteen plans to add a site in Scottsdale, perhaps at the airpark, and probably open new locations out of state, including in Texas and California.

He plans to continue worldwide delivery and add new lines to the corporate gift baskets and boxes.

“There will be more flexibility on how we can let companies put their messages out,” he said.
