Newcastle Wine-Loving Entrepreneur Toasts Success

A wine-loving entrepreneur is toasting the successful expansion of his growing wine school franchise.

Chris Powell, founder of Newcastle Wine School, has opened four new franchises of his independent wine education company in the last 12 months, and hopes to see more schools open this year.

Newcastle Wine School, which has been running since 2000 at Blackfriars Restaurant in the city centre, has been so successful that Mr Powell decided to expand the company last year, offering other wine enthusiasts across the UK the opportunity to turn their passion into a profitable business.

He has opened four new franchises in Birmingham, Lancashire, Manchester and West London and more are planned for Leeds and Edinburgh in the coming months.

He said: “I’m delighted that the wine school franchise has grown so rapidly over the past year. I’ve enjoyed helping other wine lovers embark upon a new career and I’m looking forward to continuing our expansion in 2010.
