Some entrepreneurs swear that smaller is better, because the person at the top can stay close to his or her customers.
As a guy who’s not tall, I agree with that.
It works for Mark E. Charnet, the 48-year-old founder of American Prosperity Group. He said that one reason his Wayne-based wealth management services firm is doing well, even during this recession, is the personal service he offers to clients. But staying small did have a downside, he told me.
“I used to spend a lot of time and money training good employees in wealth management services, but they’d leave me for a bigger competitor,†he said. “I had to find a different way of doing business.â€
So in 2006, Charnet, who launched his company in 1991 after working in the insurance industry, started franchising American Prosperity Group. Full article.
