The Columbus franchise of DirectBuy has closed.
A spokeswoman from the company’s corporate headquarters in Merrillville, Ind., confirmed Friday that the showroom at 2188 Citygate Dr. near Port Columbus has been shut down, leaving between 30 and 50 employees out of work.
“Those franchise owners are no longer able to operate,” said Sara Butler of DirectBuy. “In the interim, our priority is to make sure our members are serviced and there is no interruption. So we corporately will be servicing members. We already have someone on a plane to Columbus who will be working on an alternate location.”
A message left with Columbus franchise co-owner Mark Lankford was not returned.
