Drive-Thru Gourmet: Taco Bell Gets Fancy, And Pricey, With New Tortada

Houston Chronicle:

This week I reached out for a new Bacon Ranch Tortada, available for the dreaded limited time only, at America’s No. 1 Mexican-style drive-through, Taco Bell, with nearly 5,600 restaurants coast to coast.

Whenever Taco Bell introduces a new menu item, it’s like déjà vu all over again… and again… and again. It’s a little like Olive Garden, where they can change the shape of the pasta and wave a magic wand over the sauce, but everything comes out tasting the same. This time Taco Bell is calling it a Bacon Ranch Tortada.

Here’s the blueprint: a flour tortilla packed with fire-grilled marinated white-meat chicken, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, bacon bits and avocado ranch sauce — all folded into a rectangle and cut into triangles.
