At least four new steakhouses are planned for urban Austin in the next few years.

Stockade Companies LLC, which operates and franchises 91 steak-buffet and casual dining restaurants nationwide, moved its headquarters to the North Austin suburb of Taylor in 2008, but has since focused on quietly opening up eateries in suburbs and the outskirts around Austin as it weathered the recession.

The company is now looking for franchisees to open between two to three Sirloin Stockade and two to three Montana Mike Steakhouse restaurants within Austin’s city limits over the next three years, with an overall investment between $750,000 to $1 million, said Chief Operating Officer Terry Harstad.
