Franchises Can Create, Solve Problems For Investors

Fuddruckers recently was in the news because the national restaurant franchisor filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Someone not in the know might think the chain’s Parsippany and Roxbury locations were in danger of closing. Not so fast.

Despite down economic times, plenty of businesses — many with franchises — not only stay afloat, but also look to expand.

Kelly Pascal Gould, a spokeswoman for Fuddruckers, said the Parsippany and Roxbury restaurants are franchised-owned — not corporate-owned — and therefore won’t be directly impacted by the restructuring.

“Those should not be affected and they definitely do brisk business,” she said. More.
