Real estate franchise Ray White (Real Estate) Pty Ltd has been pulled up by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for its treatment of a franchisee.
The real estate franchisor told franchisee Nick Edwards it was ending the franchise agreement without giving a reason just two years into a five year agreement for his franchise in Charleville, Queensland.
Acting ACCC chairman, Michael Schaper, said “The Franchising Code of Conduct provides that, unless there are special circumstances, a franchisor cannot end a franchise agreement without advising the franchisee of any alleged breaches of the agreement and without providing the franchisee time to remedy any breaches.”
