Wireless Zone Opens New Canton Shop

The Patriot Ledger:

Wireless Zone is dialing up an expansion in the region, opening two new Verizon Wireless stores in Canton and Fairhaven.

Wireless Zone franchisees Eric Leung of Cumberland, R.I., and Ray Leung of Quincy opened those shops – their eighth and ninth Verizon stores – in the past two weeks.

The business partners, who are not related, have been working together for nine years. They now operate stores in Middleboro, North Attleboro, Hyannis, Saugus, Burlington, Taunton and Salem, N.H., as well as their new shops in Canton and Fairhaven. The Canton store opened in The Village Shoppes on Washington Street.

They opened four stores since February 2009, employ about 50 people and are hiring six new people for each of the new stores.

They once targeted malls almost exclusively for new locations, but they saw that foot traffic in malls began to dwindle, while the rents remained high. So they decided to look for other retail locations.
