After “four years of hell,” the car-wash industry in Ontario is enjoying a robust rebound, according to Mike Black, a Guelph operator of two car washes who is respected as a leader in the industry.

“Along with most washes in the northeast (northeastern North America), we have gone through four years of hell. Now, having just posted our second highest monthly car count in 19 years at one of our locations, I feel like we’re waking up from a bad dream,” Black is quoted as saying in an article published in AutoLaundry Magazine.

The slump in auto sales that started 10 years ago, followed by the financial crisis of 2006-7, has been followed by a long-awaited turnaround in new auto sales.

Stats show new car owners are six times more likely to patronize a car wash than owners of older vehicles, so an upswing in the car wash business was bound to follow. Read more.
