Lifestyle Development is a franchisee of Epcon, a homebuilding company that sells homes in planned communities. Homeowners who purchase a home from an Epcon franchisee also are provided with exterior maintenance as part of the deal. This means that a lot of the downside of homeownership, yardwork and other drudgery, are done by someone else, leaving residents free to enjoy their spare time instead of spending their weekends pushing a mower.
Joel Rhodes, legal counsel for Epcon, said the company’s services are popular among baby boomers and young professionals, who want the benefits of homeownership, but not the hassles.
