Home-Grown Franchises See 20% Growth

‎Manila Bulletin:

Home-grown franchise businesses expect to grow by as much as 20 percent this year because the strong domestic economy has encouraged the informal sector to come above board by expanding their businesses through franchising.

Paulo M. Tibig, president of the Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI), said in a press conference for the launch of the 9th Filipino Franchise Show slated on September 16 to 19 that its 120 members generated gross sales of P60.5 billion in 2009, doubling its size three years ago. The AFFI members have almost 6,000 stores and employ 34,793 workers.

“We see a growth of as much as 20 percent this year over 2009, which is higher than the overall franchising industry growth largely due to the strong recovery of the domestic economy,” Tibig said.
