The economy has taken a bite out of the Mr. Food No-Fuss Meals store concept.

While franchisees are still open in Coconut Creek, Melbourne and Buffalo, N.Y., the Fort Lauderdale location, at 5975 N. Federal Highway, is planning to close Oct. 2.

The Fort Lauderdale franchisee sent an e-mail to customers that said: “Dear Valued Guests and Friends, It’s been a long road for all of us these past couple of years and we’ve done our best to keep the no-fuss lifestyle alive as corporate and other stores closed around us over a year ago. We hoped the economy would have turned around by now, but it seems for South Florida that may take a while; longer than we can hold on for.”

The man behind the overall Mr. Food concept is Art Ginsburg, who calls himself the first TV chef to promote practical, “anybody can do it” cooking and food preparation, according to his website.
