Comfy Couch Co. Opens On Morse Road With Eye Toward Franchising

David Thompson and D.J. Effler looked at a furniture market reeling from the recession and decided to start a furniture store.

Comfy Couch Co. in late August opened in a 32,500-square-foot storefront once occupied by Circuit City at 4056 Morse Road.

“The market is terrible right now,” Thompson said. “But bad times can also be good times.”

The venture is part habit for Thompson, who spent more than 35 years at Columbus-based Schottenstein Stores Corp.’s Value City Furniture and American Signature chains, including his last 16 as president.
