The owner of some of Australia’s best known fast food chicken brands has seen sales from company-owned stores fall due to conversion of many of its stores to franchises, although total sales have increased.
Quick Service Restaurant Holdings, which owns the Red Rooster, Chicken Treat, Chooks, and Oporto brands, and has about 600 stores nationally, recorded a $4.5 million loss for the last financial year.
That compared to a $14.6 million loss in 2008-09 for the Perth-based company, and was largely due to interest expenses, writing off goodwill and closing some company-owned Red Rooster stores in South Australia. More.
