Brownfield-based fast-food franchisee Rodney Warren has offered $318,000 for the lone remaining Zoo-kini’s restaurant, in Abilene, in a process that could take into late January to complete.
The price was named in documents related to Tuesday’s Chapter 11 filing for Zoo-koncepts, the Lubbock-based corporate parent of Zoo-kini’s.
The corporation, part of admitted swindler Benny Lee Judah’s business holdings, is being liquidated to help pay back victims of Judah’s $50 million Ponzi scheme.
As part of the Zoo-koncepts bankruptcy filing, court-appointed receiver Fernando M. Bustos decided to close the Lubbock and San Angelo restaurants for financial reasons.
In a letter to creditors, customers and employees, Bustos wrote the San Angelo location had never been profitable.
