The gluten free twittersphere was a buzz this week with news that Subway is testing out gluten free menu items in select markets. You can read all of the details here in this Chicago Tribune article.
I have to say I wasn’t the least bit surprised when most of my GF tweeps were skeptical of the attempt to add gluten free items to a chain known for their sandwiches.
The potential for cross-contamination is mind-boggling. Yes, the people who prepare the sandwiches at Subway do wear gloves so if they’re following Hannah’s Bretzel’s lead and just utilizing pre-made and packaged GF rolls it may work.
