Hot Pastry Earns Dough From Ice

TheChronicleHerald.ca:

Serving sweet treats to skaters on the Halifax Commons has proven so popular the business that was the lone bidder for the concession wants to double up its presence at the oval.

BeaverTails won the tender to run a mobile canteen beside the Canada Games skating oval between last month and Feb. 28.

“It’s been a great response,” Edward Peryer, who runs BeaverTails in Nova Scotia with his wife, Marianne, said Wednesday.

Over the holiday, he figured they served food and hot chocolate to about 75 per cent of the thousands of skaters who visited the oval.

“It’s definitely better than we anticipated,” Peryer said. “It’s been fantastic.”
