Franchising Back On Track

Supermarket Online:

Franchising is the one business method that continues to grow at an exponential rate – offering people from all walks of life an alternative to employment and a chance for independent self-employment. Despite the recent recession, franchisors overall showed a 12% growth in turnover, according to The Franchise Factor 2010 survey conducted by Bendeta Gordon of Franchize Directions.

President Jacob Zuma, in his State of the Nation address, spoke of the urgent need to create a conducive environment for sustainable growth, job creation and the alleviation of poverty. When Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan, in his budget speech, asked business to come to the party in making South Africa’s economy work, he also made reference to the energy and the competitive spirit of those in the private sector who could do ‘extraordinary things’ to achieve meaningful growth.

“The franchise sector has shown great resilience for the 2 years ending February 2010 with a growth of 37 660 new jobs, 2 286 new businesses and a contribution of R287.15 billion to the South African economy,” says Bendeta Gordon of Franchize Directions.
