A Cincinnati restaurant owner has pleaded guilty to one count of willfully failing to file a federal income tax return.

The misdemeanor plea by Jamal Al-Saleh, also known as Jamal Daoud, could bring a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $100,000 fine.

Al-Saleh owned and operated a Gold Star Chili restaurant at 5429 Ridge Road during a five-year period in which he filed no personal income tax returns, according to a press release by the U.S. Attorney’s office. From 2003 to 2007, Prosecutors said Al-Saleh earned $205,133 in taxable income and failed to pay $34,542 in taxes. Prior to the guilty plea, he filed delinquent tax returns and paid his income tax liability plus interest.
