Buzzy’s BBQ Signs Houston Company To Start Expansion

RestaurantNews.com:

One of the Lone Star State’s most famous barbecue restaurants has signed on Houston-based Charter Franchise Group to set the business up as a franchise.

Buzzy’s BBQ, the acclaimed Kerrville restaurant named one of the top barbecue spots in the state by Texas Monthly, is now legally authorized to begin selling franchise locations, according to C. Keith Hudson, President of Charter. His firm began the extensive process of creating the franchise late last year.

The famed barbecue destination in central Texas owned by Kerrville native Harold E. “Buzzie” Hughes and his wife first opened its doors 18 years ago. Hughes, who has been cooking barbecue all his life, used to do backyard barbecues, but 200 people or more showed up every time word got out he was cooking. In 1993, his wife, Brenda, finally said, “Enough is enough! Either you open a barbecue place or start collecting donations for these little gatherings. This is costing us a !#$&!* fortune.”
