According to a report published on the website, prlog.org, David Weir and his business partner Matt Roberts, who launched Energie Scotland in 2006, announced during Scottish Franchise Week that they are hoping to more than double the number of centres under their brand across the country within the next six months.
The article reveals that Weir changed careers when he spotted a gap in the market for affordable fitness centres and made contact with Energie, one of the UK’s fastest-growing fitness club franchise businesses with 93 clubs and 75,000 members across the UK, Ireland, Latvia and the Middle East.
In an interview, Weir, Managing Director of Energie Scotland, said, “I fancied working in the health and fitness sector so I Googled ‘fitness franchising’ and Energie came up, but I noticed they had no clubs in Scotland so I went down and spoke to their Head Office in London.â€
