Sun-Sentinel:

As Larry Feldman tells it, he launched his business because there was nowhere in Washington near Congress to get a decent sandwich.

Feldman, then 27, was minority counsel on the House Banking Committee. He and Subway founder Fred DeLuca had gone to college together. Feldman found his solution to institutional food when he heard that DeLuca was opening some franchises.
