Burger King To Speed Up Expansion In Brazil

MiamiHerald.com:

Burger King’s new owners want to make sure the brand has a strong presence in its home country of Brazil and have turned over the country’s operations to a master franchisee with ambitious development plans.

The move could lead Burger King to increase it’s presence ten-fold in Brazil over the next five years.

The Miami restaurant chain said that an affiliate of Vinci Partners, a new private equity fund, would take over all development and management of the Burger King brand in Brazil. Burger King entered Brazil in 2004 and currently has 108 franchise-owned restaurants in the country.

Vinci Partners said it plans ambitious plans to develop 1,000 restaurants in the country over approximately the next five years.

“We believe there is tremendous opportunity to grow the Burger King brand in Brazil,” said Jose Tomas, president, BKC Latin America and Caribbean. “I look forward to working closely with our master franchisee on their development plans and I am confident they will drive aggressive growth to rapidly expand our footprint in Brazil.”
