Dunkin’ Dumps Iced Drink

New York Post:

In the latest brew-haha to hit the city, Dunkin’ Donuts plans to withdraw its “Frozen Hot Chocolate” iced drink in the New York market starting this weekend, a spokesperson tells The Post.

“The promotional period for this product is ending this weekend and over the next two months the product will be exiting the system,” said the company in a statement released Friday night.

This Dunkin’ reaction may be in response to a legal letter Serendipity 3 sent the company last week claiming the coffee giant ripped off Serendipity’s “Frrrozen Hot Chocolate” with its new icy drink.

Serendipity says it serves 2,500 of its iced hot chocolates a week in each of its locations, which amounts to $6 million in sales at its Upper East Side locale, and at its eateries in Boca Raton, Fla., Las Vegas and Georgetown, Md. Serendipity is also about to open a new restaurant in Miami.
