Gold Star Franchisee Gets Sentence For Tax Evasion

Bizjournals.com:

A Gold Star Chili Inc. franchisee has been sentenced to one year of probation for his guilty plea in April to a charge that he failed to file a federal tax return.

Jamal Al-Saleh, also known as Jamal Daoud, was sentenced by U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen L. Litkovitz, according to an IRS press release. The first eight months of his sentence requires home confinement for Al-Saleh, 52.

He owned and operated the Gold Star restaurant at 5420 Ridge Road during a five-year period in which the IRS claimed he failed to file returns.
