Pune-based travel company, Girikand Travels Pvt Ltd has started offering Self Drive Tours in Maharashtra. The service commenced in July with packages for destinations such as the Konkan belt, Ajanta and Ellora Caves, the Nashik-Shirdi-Trimbakeshwar circuit, the Solapur-Akkalkot-Pandharpur circuit, as well as the Ashtavinayak circuit and Shani Shingnapur. Girikand will mainly target upper middle-class travellers for their new product. Besides this, Girkand aims to expand its operations in other states besides Maharashtra. It is currently looking to open a minimum of 25 franchisee offices in Goa, Karnataka and Hyderabad.
Targeting both the domestic and international markets, the Self Drive Tours range from Rs 1400 to Rs 4500 for a duration of 18 hours. The company also rents-out cars on weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
