Owners of NFL franchises have complained for a decade that their investments have been languishing, being squeezed under expanding mega-salaries top players demand. A closer look at things shows a different picture.
Record attention, record profits

The NFL is certainly enjoying record media attention and record revenues as a league. (The Dallas Cowboys receive the most coverage — in fact 23% more than the second most popular team, the Pittsburgh Steelers). Forbes (which tracks the business of the NFL) estimated that the league brought in more than $8B in revenues in 2009, doubling what they earned over the past decade.

In spite of huge media contracts and record popularity, you’d expect NFL owners to be doing a flagrant endzone celebration. But, they’re not — in fact, they’re complaining that they’re being squeezed. Skyrocketing salaries have put major pressure on NFL owners. Full article.
