Chicago Franchisee Sues Leo’s Coney

Franchisees of Leo’s Coney Island’s first and only Chicago outpost are suing the Birmingham-based company, claiming that they were forced to close their doors after just 20 months because the restaurateur failed to provide adequate support.

The three franchise owners allege in a lawsuit filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Ill., that Leo’s Coney Island Franchising Co. failed to provide promised services, including a training program, kitchen plans and supplier relationships. They noted in the filing that it took more than six weeks to obtain salad dressing, “one of the restaurant’s most popular items and a product that is required to be sold under the requisite agreements.” Read full post.
