Freebirds World Burrito has signed a new, local company as its first franchisee and several of the restaurants are planned for the area, including one in Mission.
FB Midwest Development LLC’s agreement calls for 27 locations. It has signed a lease for the new Mission Crossing, now under construction at 61st Street and Metcalf Avenue, and is looking at other area sites, as well as locations in Columbia, Lawrence, Wichita, and Omaha.
Two ex-hippies founded the first Freebirds in 1987 in Santa Barbara, Calif., making burritos with fresh-chopped veggies, house-made rice and beans, and grass-fed beef and all-natural chicken.
