A La Carte: Another Dairy Queen Coming To Springfield

The State Journal-Register:

Springfield will get its third DAIRY QUEEN this summer.

Exterior walls are going up now for the new building on Atlanta Street off North Dirksen Parkway. The corner formerly was home to the Sangamon County Department of Public Health; that building was razed. The new DQ is between STEAK ’N SHAKE and Goodwill Industries.

The target opening date is June 1.

“It’s all about traffic count, that’s the No. 1 factor. There are 28,000 cars a day on that road,” said Mark Freetley, franchisee for the DQ at 1742 Wabash Ave. He’ll own the new Dairy Queen with Kevin Arnberger, franchisee for the DQ at 1663 North Grand Ave. E.
