Milton Keynes Citizen:

McDonald’s franchisee Ken Tomkins is spending some serious money on his two new branches of the fast food restaurant chain in Milton Keynes.

New city resident Mr Tomkins, 47, took on the branches at Xscape and at Westcroft District Centre in November and is pumping in about £800,000 in a programme of refurbishment.

“We’ve had the same decor since the year 2000,” said Mr Tomkins in an interview at Xscape on Thursday (April 12). “We’re only the fourth McDonald’s in the country to get this new look.”

New signs, decor and furniture have taken away the open plan nature of the old restaurants and added a variety of seats, with a splash of colour and a degree of snug-like privacy.
