Here Comes The Bridesmaid

Brisbane Times:

Australia’s bridal industry is largely focused on just that: the bride. But what about the women behind ‘the woman’? Enter this mother and daughter team.

While in full wedding planning mode three years ago, Talia Sasson struggled to find the right dresses for her bridesmaids.

“The ones I did find locally were either cheap-looking or cost over $1000 to have made,” says the 26-year-old Sydneysider, who decided instead to take her hunt online. There she found fashionable US bridesmaids stores aplenty, offering good quality at a reasonable cost.

“I thought, ‘Why don’t we have anything like this in Australia?’ And to start with, that’s all that was: a thought,” Sasson says.

Today, the arts degree graduate and former film production assistant, along with her mother, former teacher Bella Kaye, runs Bridesmaids Only. It’s a dedicated bridesmaids store where, like most bridal boutiques, customers are served on an appointment-only basis.

So how did she make the leap? Carry on reading.
