Executive Care Announces Nationwide Expansion Through New Franchising Initiative

Just ask Lenny Verkhoglaz and Mila Feldman, a married couple whose unexpected Valentine’s Day experience nearly a decade ago has given way to a successful business venture now expanding nationwide. Today, the couple announced that it is launching a strategic franchise expansion plan for Executive Care, the renowned Northern New Jersey-based home healthcare business established in 2004 and recognized throughout its home region and South Florida for its quality and compassion. “Cupid’s arrow really struck us in an unforeseen way that Valentine’s Day,” remembers Feldman.

“One of our elderly neighbors was alone in her home after her daughter went on vacation — she needed a helping hand. My husband Lenny and I offered to stay with her and spent Valentine’s in her home helping her out, sleeping on a floor mattress in case she needed help in the middle of the night. Red Mango Celebrates 200th Location

Only five years after opening its first location, Red Mango, America’s #1 Zagat-rated frozen yogurt and smoothies chain, has announced its 200th store will open in The Woodlands, Texas this month.

Located at 10868 Kuykendahl Road in The Woodlands Crossing Shopping Center, the store welcomes customers in a few days, and will champion many honors for the fast-growing chain. In addition to being the 200th location, the newest Red Mango will feature eight yogurt machines serving 16 different flavors, the most of any Red Mango location in North America.

The store also graduates franchise owner Jay Randle to the title of multi-unit owner/operator. As one of the first people to introduce the brand to the greater Houston area, Randle is part of a growing Houston presence and larger franchising story that has expanded Red Mango from coast to coast.

“When it’s a great product like Red Mango, everything is right,” says Randle, who opened his first Red Mango at the Market Street Shopping Center at 9595 Six Pines in The Woodlands in 2009.

Franchising Picks Up In US, But Hurdles Remain

Robert Penney has seen his financial future and it involves heaps of frozen yogurt.

Penney and his wife, Dayna, purchased a Menchie’s franchise, offering self-serve frozen yogurt, in Bellingham, Washington, in July 2011. They expect the business, open since April, to be profitable its first year.
It better be.

“We basically had to put our life on the line,” said Penney, 44, a former corporate engineer. He declined to provide details about how much was invested but said a typical Menchie’s requires $350,000 to $400,000. The couple drew on personal savings and a credit line against their home.

Burger 21 Offers Up Fresh Franchise Opportunities In South Florida

Burger 21®, a new fast casual concept founded by the owners of The Melting Pot Restaurants, Inc., announced today that it plans to target several key territories in South Florida, including Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Aventura, for expansion. Earlier this year, the “beyond the better burger” concept signed four franchise deals for a total of six franchised units in Orlando, Atlanta and Voorhees, N.J. As the concept targets South Florida for further expansion, Burger 21 envisions South Florida potentially supporting approximately 20 or more locations.

Corner Bakery Cafe Expands Franchise Sales Team

Corner Bakery Café has added Nick Booras and Gregg Koffler as directors of franchise sales to support the brand’s national expansion efforts.

Booras and Koffler are the latest to join the company’s growing development sales team to help the chain double its footprint in the U.S. throughout the next four years. Earlier this year, hospitality industry veteran Jonathan Benjamin was hired as vice president of franchise sales to spearhead the chain’s aggressive expansion plans.

Booras brings seven years of restaurant franchising experience to the company. Most recently, he was the leading franchise salesman at Boston Pizza Restaurants. Prior to that, Booras was in pharmaceutical and cosmetic sales with Carow Packaging.

Hungry Howie’s Kicks Off Breast Cancer Fundraising Campaign

Throughout October, Michigan-based Hungry Howie’s Pizza will host its annual Love, Hope & Pizza campaign, which has raised almost $500,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. throughout the last three years. This year’s goal is to raise more than $250,000 during the campaign.

The chain has adopted a new tagline for the effort: “Hope comes in many flavors.”

Throughout the month at all participating locations, all pizzas will be served in bright pink boxes emblazoned with breast cancer awareness ribbons instead of the classic Hungry Howie’s yellow boxes. Customers can add a $1 donation to their Hungry Howie’s order, which will go directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Donators will receive a pink Love, Hope & Pizza wristband bracelet as a token of appreciation.

Hungry Howie’s is continuing the social media campaign that accompanies Love, Hope & Pizza. Throughout October, Hungry Howie’s will make a donation to the foundation for every new Facebook fan, for every breast cancer story fans share on the Hungry Howie’s Facebook page, and for every tweet using the hashtag #lovehopepizza.
