When Jim Wiebusch began planning for his first Man Cave party, he admits some of his best buddies weren’t so sure about it.
One of them texted him: “Is this like a Tupperware party, for men?”
“No, it’s like a Mary Kay party,” Wiebusch replied.Call it what you will, but Man Cave Worldwide is a growing business of men selling to men. Similar to other direct-selling companies, like Tastefully Simple or Pampered Chef, Man Cave sells products related to beer, grilling and other manly pursuits.
Men, however, don’t host parties; they host “meatings” where the manly guys get together and a Man Cave “adviser” teaches them new grilling techniques while talking about the company’s products, drinking a couple of beers and shooting the breeze.
“It comes off as chauvinist, as men in their man cave, but that’s the fun of it, to be able to put on that face for one night,” said Man Cave Worldwide Founder and CEO Nick Beste. “I think that men like it that they go there and grunt and drink a beer and eat all this meat.”
