Einstein Bros. Bagels Plan Upstate Expansion

Anderson Independent Mail:

Einstein Bros. Bagels, a self-described neighborhood bagel and sandwich shop, has plans to be in the Anderson area in the coming year.

Kevin Kruse, vice president of development for Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, said the company has been meeting with potential franchisees from various locations in South Carolina, including one from the Anderson area.

Currently, Einstein Bros. Bagels operates stores on the campuses of the College of Charleston, the University of South Carolina in Columbia and Furman University in Greenville.

According to Kruse, the company operates 19 stores in the Atlanta metro area, and two in Charlotte, NC.

As for the Anderson market, Kruse was optimistic when discussing the company’s plan for the area.

“We believe Anderson is an area we could be successful,” he said Wednesday, citing the success of the Columbia, Charleston and Greenville locations, in addition to a recent multi-franchise agreement with a private investor in the Augusta, GA and Aiken markets.

“Our business model is predicated on a franchisee purchasing from three to five franchise locations in a specific geographic region, which is usually dictated by the size of a market area,” Kruse said.
