Ready, set…..go win that federal contract.
The government is expected to spend monstrous sums in coming months, based on the Senate and House stimulus plans: $16 billion for construction and renovation of schools, $9 billion to increase broadband, $40 billion for the development of cleaner and more efficient energy, and on and on and on.
The lowdown: Entrepreneurs should be prepared to go after a piece of the gigantic pie. And there will be all sorts of small businesses that might be able to take advantage — not just manufacturers and construction firms.
That means learning about government contracting, and getting whatever paperwork and certificates you need in order now, so that when the spigot opens, you are ready to bid on your share.
But for a small business, it does take some homework to make sure you have proper registration and know where to look for contract opportunities. It’s a good idea to start reading up as soon as possible.
