The Body Shop To Test Other Sales Channels Besides Franchising

Franchise Key:

The French cosmetics company, L’Oréal, is looking to develop new sales channels for its “The Body Shop” products, which have up to now been sold via franchise-run businesses. According to a report published on the website, apotheke-adhoc, the company has been selling some of the brand’s creams and lotions via 20 chemists in and around Düsseldorf, where L’Oréal’s German head office is located. The report reveals that this model project is to run for a period of six months and only involves a part of the overall range.

L’Oréal already sells a number of brands via chemists. The company, which is the world’s largest cosmetics producer, is a major shareholder in the pharmaceutical firm, Sanofi-Aventis. L’Oréal bought up The Body Shop in 2006 for 944 million euros. Established in 1976, The Body Shop has become one of the largest franchise systems across the world with more than 2,400 locations in 59 countries.
