Direct Selling Becomes Viable Option In Tough Economy

WQOW TV:

As businesses shut down and workers are laid off, a certain type of selling is making a comeback.

Across the country, direct sales companies are seeing a jump in independent workers. That’s a good thing according to an Eau Claire woman who has been selling products on her own for years.

“This is my fun job, you can do it as much or as little as you like,” says Jenni Cesafsky.

She has a part time job at a local flower shop but for the last six years she has also been selling food products through Tastefully Simple online and at parties.

“The money from the parties is wonderful. It’s a great source of income if you’re looking for something extra. It’s perfect,” says Cesafsky.

She also says direct sales aren’t what it used to be, people are out there selling a lot more than makeup and Tupperware and they’re doing it in many different ways.”

“I have a website where you can go and search through products and you can order through the website or contact that consultant.”
