Personalized Health Care Still in Demand

NY Times: “Thanks to patients who still value their health in hard times, the recession has barely slowed the growth of concierge medical practices, which charge hefty membership fees for highly personalized care and around-the-clock access.”

If Obama doesn’t destroy it first, someone is going to revolutionize the medical industry by cutting out the middle men (insurance companies, government oversight boards, physician groups). I imagine that it’ll be similar to how Google made it cheaper and easier to buy and sell advertising across the web; an entrepreneur will make it easier for doctors to provide one-on-one service without going broke or forcing two hour waits and five minute appointments on the patients. If I could figure out how to do it myself, I’d be a rich man.
