Direct Sales Up Last Year

Prague Monitor:

Direct sales companies fared well in the Czech Republic last year despite the economic crisis and the overall turnover, excluding VAT, of the Direct Sales Association (AOP) members increased to record Kc4.65bn from Kc4.44bn in 2007, according to data released by the AOP on its website.

In 2008, there were 225,076 sellers working for firms associated in the AOP compared to 220,989 a year ago. The number of AOP sellers increased by around a third in the past six years. Direct sellers are mostly women.

The AOP has been active in the Czech Republic since 1993. Its members are the companies Avon, Amway, Just, Lux, Mary Kay, Ranger, Oriflame, Tupperware and Vorwerk.

These companies take up over a half of the Czech direct sale market, according to the association’s estimates.
