No Bill For At-Home Tupperware Biz

goldcoast.com.au:

A Gold Coast mum will no longer have to fork out $12,500 for running a Tupperware business from her Robina home.

Debbie Hert was forced to lodge a development application with the Gold Coast City council and was expected to pay infrastructure charges after council took exception to her running a home-based business.

However, yesterday the council approved a request from Ms Hert to defer and resubmit her application to establish a home occupation in Robina.

City planning boss councillor Ted Shepherd said Ms Hert’s infrastructure fees could be removed if she reduced the traffic impact her business had on her street.

“Home occupation businesses should be small and not make an impact on the community but if they do, they have to pay infrastructure charges,” he said.
