Rebuilt to resemble its 1950s predecessors, McDonald’s on North Highland Avenue reopens at 5 a.m. today.
Century Management, which owns the local franchise rights to the nation’s No. 1 fast-food company, razed the original McDonald’s, which was built at that location in 1969, and replaced it with a larger, 4,000-square-foot building designed to look like the original eateries. Scott Tillman, owner/operator of Century Management, said his company chose the original 1950s style because of childhood memories.
“When I first saw this style being offered,” he said, “It brought back a lot of fine memories. It brings back a lot of warm memories. I think it touches a lot of people like that.”
