Tax Time Begets Lady Liberty In Shippensburg

Carlisle Sentinel:

Liberty Tax Service franchisee Shawn Lesh was right at home in the Lady Liberty costume by the time Shippensburg’s new tax preparation office opened Monday on the square.

Lesh and his wife, Kristen, leased the former Todd West insurance agency site this year to start their full-service tax office.

Statue of Liberty “wavers” are an integral part of the Liberty “branding,” Lesh says, and he wasted no time in donning the crown, robe and sash “uniform” to attract the attention of motorists and pedestrians passing the downtown location.

Lesh says the new business is based on his marketing skills and the accounting skills of his wife. Kristin has an accounting degree from Shippensburg University and has worked in the field for 12 years. There are more than 3,000 Liberty franchises in the United States and Canada.

While tax preparation is seasonal in nature, Shawn Lesh says Shippensburg’s Liberty Tax office will provide year-round services to its customers.

The Internal Revenue Service begins accepting electronic returns Jan. 15. More.
