While the best way to learn about business is to get hands on, there are also plenty of lessons to be learned through college courses on the topic. To help their business students get the most out of their education, UMass Boston has launched the entrepreneurship center, says Mass High Tech Business News.
The center will be run out of UMass Boston’s College of Management and is intended to complement the college’s recently added specialization in entrepreneurship. The Entrepreneurship Center will hold workshops, offer networking events and provide mentoring from working entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, Phillips said.
In the specialization, as well as in the Entrepreneurship Center, students will learn prototyping, market research and financial planning in a controlled setting. Phillips will teach Entrepreneurship Practicum, one of the two classes required for the specialization. The other, Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation, will be taught by Benyamin Lichtenstein.
