Franchising is experiencing a post-GFC boom, with companies that remained resilient, and even prospered throughout the downturn, now recording huge spikes in enquiries.

Pizza operators in particular are experiencing high levels of interest, with Eagle Boys Pizza recording an 80 per cent jump in potential franchisees during the first three months of this year.

Crust Pizza has also experienced huge growth in the past 18 months, with franchisee enquiries jumping “three or four fold”.

Eagle Boys’ sharp spike heralds a year of rapid expansion for the Brisbane-based pizza maker, which will increase its number of stores in Australia by 100, taking the total to over 400.

Operating in all Australian states and territories except Tasmania, Eagle Boys Pizza received 808 individual enquiries during January, February and March, compared to 447 inquiries over the same period in 2009. Read full article.
