Skinny Mixes Siphon Off Calories

There’s an old saying that drinking doesn’t make you fat, it makes you lean – against bars, tables, chairs and poles.

That joke may get a ring of truth; a new mix allows people to have their margarita and drink it, too – practically guilt free.

It’s called Jordan’s Skinny Mixes.

According to Tampa Bay Online, when the housing market took a major hit a few years ago, local real estate appraiser Jordan Engelhardt turned to the bottle, but not in the way you think. She decided to take her career in a completely different direction by creating sugar-free, low- or zero-calorie margarita, cosmopolitan and appletini mixes.

I basically had to find a new job,” Englehardt said. “It just came to me one day and as soon as it came to me I thought, ‘Wow, I’d really like a product like this.’ ”

“All you do is add your favorite vodka or tequila and you can save yourself a ton of calories,” the 29-year-old entrepreneur said. “The typical margarita has about 500 calories per serving. One of these, depending on how much alcohol you add … just 100 calories.”

Englehardt just closed a deal to get her mixes sold at 400 Bed, Bath & Beyond stores nationwide, including here in the Tampa Bay area.

They’re also on the menu at Cha Cha Coconuts at The Pier in St. Petersburg.
