Invention Could Stop Oil Leak

A Westwego, Louisiana, man says he has the answer to capping that pipe gushing beneath the gulf, reports NewOrleans.com.

Warren Gilbert is a hydraulic specialist. He developed this device he calls a crimper.
Using hydraulics he says his machine can be retro fitted to work under water.

The key is getting the crimper around the 36 inch gushing pipe. The hydraulics would crimp or bend the pipe so there wouldn’t be any more leakage.

Gilbert says he’s placed calls to BP, but can’t get an answer. He’s also tried to reach local leaders, but to no avail.

Gilbert says he’s been doing this work for 30 years and is 95 percent certain it can work.
