The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has included the homegrown Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc. (Affi) in the team now crafting an administrative order curbing the proliferation of “bad eggs†in the local franchising industry.
Victorio Mario Dimagiba, director of the Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection, said the technical working group is set to come out with a second version of the draft order that, once finished, will again be circulated to all stakeholders.
“Affi is one of the biggest associations. They joined us in the technical working group that will come up with the rules,†Dimagiba said. It is composed of about 80 franchisers.
Dimagiba said the role of Affi in the crafting of the rules is valuable because it has a lot of members in the micro and small categories where pseudo-franchisers often operate.
