Uncle Otto Marks 10 Years Of Kebap

Online Athens:

A little more than 10 years ago, Achim Reus and his wife, Angela Jones-Reus, opened Achim’s K-Bob on South Lumpkin Street where Cali ‘N Tito’s is now and introduced Athens to a sandwich that had been popular in Germany for decades.

Originated in Turkey, the kebap sandwich had become a sensation in Germany, and Reus wanted to build a franchise from his first store (which opened Aug. 3, 2000) and develop Achim K-Bobs across America.

Reus, also known as Uncle Otto, did eventually open a second store – in downtown Athens – but then had to close the South Lumpkin location. More than a year ago he teamed up with the Locos franchising owners and created a new moniker and franchising plan for his kebap concept.
